Development of a dimensionally stable beverage holder for a German car manufacturer
The development of the swivel drink holder for our customer project posed the challenge of combining lightness and dimensional stability with the requirements of the polypropylene material. Polypropylene is challenging to process in injection molding, so precise manufacturing techniques had to be developed to ensure stability and good handling. The aim was to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing cup holder that integrates perfectly into the interior of the vehicle.
To achieve this, the manufacturing process was optimized. Machines and tools were adapted to precisely control temperature, pressure and speed to ensure a balance between functionality and stability. The ultrasonic piercing process was chosen to achieve a stable and durable connection of the components without the need for additional aids.
The result is a lightweight, stable and functional cup holder that fits seamlessly into the interior of the customer's project. The manufacturing process was optimized to achieve high production quality and efficiency. The cup holder meets all requirements for stability and functionality and impresses with a reliable connection and harmonious integration into the vehicle design. The development shows how innovative production techniques and choice of materials combine functional requirements with design demands.
